Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi arrested in court

Controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has been arrested. Again.

Nyakundi was reportedly arrested at Milimani Courts where he had gone for the mention of a case against him by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.

According to Nyakundi, he was arrested by special crimes officers and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, then to Muthaiga Police Station.

The cause of his arrest is yet to be revealed but Nyakundi, via his Twitter handle, said “I was supposed to attend to the other four cases at Kiambu.”

A Nairobi court on March 7, 2018, declined to withdraw the case in which Nyakundi was charged with defaming Dr.  Matiang’i.

The defense had made an application to have the matter withdrawn saying the main and key witness who is the CS, had not recorded his statement with the prosecution.

Appearing before Kiambu Law Court Resident Magistrate Justus Gituku on April 26, 2018, Nyakundi was charged with posting offensive messages about Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

He was, however, on April 27, 2018, released on Ksh.2 million bond.
