Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi sentenced to 4 months in jail

A Nairobi high court has sentenced blogger Cyprian Nyakundi to four months in prison or a fine of Ksh300,000 for contempt of court.

Nyakundi had missed court on several occasions when he was required to present himself for sentencing after being found guilty of contempt of court in a defamation case pitting himself and Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore.

Justice Lucy Njuguna had ordered Nyakundi to cease from defaming the Safaricom boss online, an order he defied repeatedly.

The blogger was brought to court under warrant of arrest after spending three days in a police cell.
