Controversial blogger Robert Alai has been arrested for posting on social media photos of police officers killed in a terrorist attack in Wajir County last Friday.

Alai was apprehended on Monday morning and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Kiambu Road for interrogation.

His arrest comes just a day after the National Police Service condemned posting of images of the fatally injured officers on social media.

“As we mourn our fallen heroes, posting of their pictures online by one blogger is very unfortunate, inhuman, glorifies terror and is tantamount to supporting terrorism. This is indeed the lowest we can go. We condemn this act in the strongest terms possible,” said Police Spokesperson Charles Owino in a statement.

The officers were killed by an Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) planted on the road by Al Shabaab militants.
