Blow to Kidero as NGO board deregisters his foundation

Nairobi Governor, Dr Evans Kidero, suffered a major setback after the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Co-ordination Board deregistered the his foundation – Evans Kidero Foundation.

In a letter signed by the Board’s Executive Director, Fazul Mohamed, the Evans Kidero Foundation has been deregistered over claims of breaching the NGO Board regulations and also failing to file annual returns.

Fazul has accused the Evans Kidero Foundation of receiving cash deposits amounting to millions of shillings and also opening and operating unauthorized bank accounts.

Fazul has also faulted the composition of the Evans Kidero Foundation directors saying most of them are officials of the County Government of Nairobi.

According to records, Kidero’s Chief of Staff, George Wainaina, is the Secretary of the Evans Kidero Foundation.
