Bobi Wine arrives in US for medical treatment

Ugandan musician-turned-politician, Robert Kyagulanyi, has arrived in the United States for medical treatment.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Kyagulanyi – popularly known as Bobi Wine – said that he will be “receiving specialised treatment following the brutal torture at the hands of SFC soldiers”.

He added: “We thank the world for standing with us. I will tell you what exactly happened to me since 13th August and what is next.”

Earlier on Thursday evening, authorities blocked Bobi Wine from leaving claiming that he was defying his bail terms.

They bundled him into an ambulance and whisked him back to a local hospital as his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi, claimed that he had been beaten up again.

Uganda military reportedly surrounded the hospital where Bobi Wine was detained. Police then released a statement saying they were waiting for direction from the relevant department.

Protests rocked the capital Kampala yet again as Opposition leader Kizza Besigye also criticised the Ugandan Government for blocking the MP from seeking treatment abroad.

President Yoweri Museveni has come under heavy criticism for the arrest and detention of leaders who are against the State.
