Bobi Wine lands at JKIA enroute to Entebbe

Ugandan MP Bobi Wine landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi on Thursday morning and is now enroute to Entebbe.

He is expected to arrive at the Ugandan airport at around 1pm.

““I landed safely in Kenya and I’m happily waiting on my last and final destination flight to Entebbe. My touchdown is at midday. I’m appalled to learn of the arrests that have happened. Security should release all people they have in their custody for nothing,” NBS reporter Mujuni Raymond quoted him on Twitter.

““I’m in touch with my legal team in Kampala and I will not leave the airport without them. I still intend to meet my relatives, have lunch in Kamwokya. I’m coming home no matter the intimidation and threat,” he added.

This amidst reports that security has been heightened ahead of his arrival and journalists barred from accessing the area.

His brother Eddie Yawe had also been allegedly arrested on his way to Entebbe Airport to receive him.

Wine’s supporters and the government are eagerly awaiting his arrival with warnings issued against processions in the capital.

Local media also reported that the Uganda Communications Commission directed them to avoid airing Bobi Wine’s homecoming live.

They also claim that several journalists have been arrested over alleged violation of the guidelines issued on Wednesday.
