Bobi Wine puts Museveni on notice after President Bashir’s ouster
Ugandan musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine has hinted that President Yoweri Museveni could be the next long-serving African Head of State to be toppled from power after Omar al-Bashir of South Sudan, whose 30-year controversial rule was ended on Thursday in a military coup.
Taking to Twitter after the ouster of Sudan’s president, Bobi Wine born Robert Kyagulanyi shared a past photo of Museveni together with al-Bashir and the late Muammar Gaddafi of Libya, who was also deposed by a military coup.
On the photo, a sign ‘Next’ had been written above Museveni’s head, while the other two leaders had a tick above them.
The opposition politician, who has previously been detained and tortured by Museveni’s government, captioned the image: “All dictators must always remember that they can fool people so many times but they cannot fool all the people all the time.”
He added: “When #PeoplePower is bringing down despotic Field Marshals, then despotic Generals should be put on notice. Power to you, People of Sudan.”

The post elicited mixed reactions with a majority supporting his sentiments, while others disagreed on the circumstances surrounding the ouster of Gaddafi.
74-year-old Museveni is the third longest-serving African leader having been in power for 33 years and is planning to seek another term in office in the next elections.
The longest serving African leader is Cameroon’s Paul Biya who has been president for 37 years after serving seven years as prime minister from 1975-1982. He is followed closely by Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea who has been in power since 1979.
