Boda Boda Operators Hold Prayers
“We will pray seven times as we march to the stadium. We urge President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and unite us as boda boda operators because this sector has created employment to many youths in this country,” said Mweiga boda boda chairman Samwel Ngatia.
Ngatia further said that boda boda operators in the region have been working as a team to help curb the increasing cases of theft and kidnapping .
“Whenever a motorcycle has been stolen, we unite with other operators from Nyeri town, Meru, Thika, Subukia and Naivasha so as to recover it,” he added.
Jason Wagura, a boda boda operator said that they had invited members of the public and, local leaders to join them in the prayers.
According to the World Health 2013 Global Status Report on road safety, the annual figure of deaths on Kenyan roads stands at 3 000,but adds that the figure could be as high as 8 500.
