Boda boda operators set up fuel station from savings

Boda boda operators in Tharaka-Nithi Constituency have teamed up and established a filling station under their Gakama Sacco.

According to the sacco’s chairman Josphat Muthengi, the filling station would enable the members to improve their living standards in addition to ensuring that they always have fuel for their motorcycles.

Mr Muthengi further urged other operators to unite and start projects that will benefit for them.

Sacco Secretary Albert Njagi told Citizen Digital that the Sacco began with 300 boda boda operators who saved up to Ksh500,000, enough to establish the filling station that helped them curb the low supply of fuel.

Njagi said that the surplus from the station is sold to other customers, in return making profits for the team.
