Boda boda rider caused accident that claimed governors life

An eyewitness has come forward to dispute police version on the cause of the dawn accident that claimed the life of Nyeri Governor Dr. Wahome Gakuru.

Dennis Muigai Ngengi, who was driving behind the governor’s vehicle when the grisly accident happened at 6:52am says that it was a reckless boda boda rider who caused the vehicle to veer off the road and ram into a guardrail that speared through the vehicle.

Mr. Muigai told Citizen TV that a motorcycle rider ferrying meat joined the road blindly forcing the driver to swerve to avoid hitting him and ended up ramming the guard rail injuring the governor and his assistants.

“Nilikua natoka Nyeri nikielekea Nairobi, nilikua nyuma ya hiyo gari (Dr. Gakuru’s) Dereva ali confusiwa na driver wa motorbike alikua amebeba nyama. Alienda kuchomoka na mbele kulikua na lorry, so driver wa Governor alikua anajaribu kuondoka asiue mtu wa motorbike akagonga hiyo chuma (guardrail),” he said.

Mr. Muigai says the governor was aware of the happenings and told him he had been injured in his leg as people used a hacksaw to try and save the occupants.

Another eyewitness said that two of the occupants had been badly injured. She said that the governor had been injured in his leg while another person had been severed off his three fingers.
