Bodaboda operators demonstrate over poor roads

Bodaboda operators along Kapsabet-Baraton road in Uasin Gishu County on Tuesday staged a demonstration protesting poor roads that have hampered their operations during rainy seasons.

The angry youths barricaded a section of the road by digging a big trench at the middle of the road, rendering it impassible

Led by Hillary Kiplimo, the bodaboda operators claimed that they could not access medical facilities, despite being close to Kapsabet Town

They further claimed that area women have been forced to deliver by the roadside as they struggle to reach Kapsabet County Referral Hospital

They are now appealing to the county government to take over and renovate the pot-holed tarmac road

However, North rift Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Engineer, Mr Edwin Rono, said that the road is maintained by Kenya Urban Roads Authority and that plans are underway to tarmac the 3km road.
