Bodies of children killed at sea airlifted to Nairobi

The seven bodies of St. Martins primary school pupils, Murang’a County, who drowned at a public beach in Diani, Kwale were Friday morning taken to Kenyatta University mortuary.

A post-mortem will be conducted and will be witnessed by family members.

The bodies were airlifted to Nairobi from Mombasa. They (bodies) arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 6 am.

According to Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, the national carrier, Kenya Airways accepted to transport the seven bodies for free.

Wa Iria has also confirmed that the County Government of Muranga will cater for the burial expenses.

The seven died after drowning while swimming at a public beach in Diani two days ago. They were among 56 pupils who were on an academic tour of the coast region.
