Bodies of Four Relatives Who Perished in River Nyamindi Still Missing

It took police over ten hours to remove the vehicle from under the water in the hope that their bodies would be found inside the wreckage but the search yielded nothing.

An area resident, Davidson Kibunyi, who was at the scene, was optimistic that the bodies may be recovered downstream at the intake, which supplies water to the Mwea Irrigation Scheme.

Kibunyi added that he has witnessed the black spot claim more lives as a result of speeding drivers who are not conversant with the terrain.

The four perished as the family drove back to Nairobi from Tigania, Meru County where the driver is alleged to have slept on the wheel before hitting the bridge barrier and plunging the saloon car into the river.
