Bodies Of Mandera Victims Arrive Kisii

The four bodies of slain massacre victims were offloaded from the hearse and placed for viewing to grief stricken relatives at the Hospital. 

Hundreds of mourners jammed the hospital as the bodies were received by Kisii County Governor James Ongwae.

The dead were teachers working in Mandera County.

A section of teachers who work in Mandera County and had accompanied the bodies vowed not to go back to their work station due to the insecurity in the area.

They accused the government of failing to provide adequate security as well as failing to act in good time to evacuate those in distress.

Kisii branch KNUT Secretary Charles Mokua said that the teachers will not go back to their work station and urged the county government to facilitate their transfer from Mandera to Kisii.

Governor Ongwae said that his government had provided the necessary assistance to the bereaved families and appealed for calm during mourning period. 

Meanwhile, the clergy conducted a requiem mass for the victims before they were escorted to their homes for burial ‎.

Kisii County lost five people in the Tuesday’s Mandera massacre.
