Bodies of mother and daughter allegedly murdered by GSU officer exhumed
The remains of a young woman and her daughter who were allegedly murdered by a General Service Unit (GSU) officer were on Wednesday exhumed from a pit latrine where they had stayed for close to a year.
This follows a cry for justice from the victims’ family who blamed local authorities for failing to file charges against the suspect despite him being arrested.
The exhumation exercise was spearheaded by Dr A. Kalsi, a human forensic specialist from the government pathologist office.
Dr. Kalsi reported that human bones found from a pit latrine within the suspect’s compound are believed to be those of Pauline Kagendo and her daughter who were allegedly murdered by the GSU officer in June 2017.
In the charge sheet, Mbeere North OCPD Jane Sang said investigations had kicked off and that three suspects, including the said GSU officer, had so far been arrested and were being held at Siakago Police Station.
She appealed to the family of the deceased to be patient and wait for investigations to conclude, urging them to report to the police station in case of any inquiry.
Sang said the government pathologists collected enough materials which would be scrutinized to establish any indications and evidence that the officer indeed killed his girlfriend and the child.
She further affirmed that the police were up to task and that the suspects would be charged with murder once investigations are completed.
