Bodies of two unidentified men found floating at a river in Kirinyaga

Residents of Mururi and Difathas villages in Mwea on Thursday woke up to news that bodies of two men had been found floating in river Nyamindi along the Mwea-Embu highway, Kirinyaga county.

The bodies were discovered by a tomato farmer who was pumping water for his farm.

Police officers who arrived at the scene had not been able to retrieve the bodies from the rocky, treacherous river by Thursday morning.

Mwea-East sub-county Police Commander John Onditi said officers will work closely with the residents in retrieving the bodies.

‘I have already informed officer commanding Wang’uru police station over the matter and it will be handled immediately,’ He said.

Area residents have expressed fear over the growing trend of people getting murdered elsewhere before they are dumped into the infamous river.

‘Sometime they are wrapped in polythene bags other are strangled and dumped here’ an area resident told Citizen Digital
