Body of a man who drowned in River Nzoia retrieved after two months

The body of a man who drowned in the waters of River Nzoia two months ago has finally been retrieved.

The body of Bernard Oduor who drowned around the Asere area in Ugunja sub-county was found by sand harvesters at port Victoria in Busia County.

Oduor was among the people who drowned during a boat tragedy that left five people dead in  River Nzoia in May.

According to one of the neighbors Julius Oyugi, the body was found while covered in the sand before the sand harvesters raised alarm.

He told Radio Ramogi that the family members were then alerted before they came and positively identified the body that had already decomposed.

Senior Assistant chief of Umala sub-location Mrs. Grace Anyango Oloo confirmed the incident, noting that the body had been brought home for burial.
