Body of Dr. Stephen Mogusu to be released to the family, hospital says
The body of Dr. Stephen Mogusu is to be released to the family after the government cleared the hospital bill.
A letter from the Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital indicated that the bill was Ksh.204,618.
“A clearance letter was issued to the wife in order to proceed and finish processing of burial permit at the farewell home. The hospital is awaiting the family to pick up their loved one,” a statement from the hospital’s Credit Control Office reads.
Dr. Stephen Mogusu, who was working at the Machakos County Isolation Centre, succumbed to COVID-19 complications on December 7.
He had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital.
Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi has since revealed plans to assist the deceased doctor’s family.
“We have seen the concerns in the media from the union members, we have talked to friends of the daktari who passed on and we are well aware of the heart break that they are going through,” said Dr. Mwangangi.
“Losing a 28-year-old (Dr Stephen Mogusu) is heartbreaking; we are in discussions to ensure that the family is able to get the aid they require but additionally that we are able to ensure that this isn't a situation that recurs among other healthcare workers” – Dr Mercy Mwangangi pic.twitter.com/7wQdlJ6c3Q
