In a statement sent to newsrooms, Boinett further ordered all illegal grazers who have taken refuge in Ngelecha, Rugus hills and outlying areas of Baringo to vacate the areas immediately.

Boinett spoke after his tour of Baringo and Samburu County held on Saturday to assess the prevailing security situation in the area.

GOVERNMENT RESOLVE

He said that progress has been made after various security operations were undertaken to deal with incidents of cattle rustling.

“I had intensive consultative meetings with the Samburu County leadership, headed by the governor, as well as the local security teams.

The police boss further urged local leaders to propagate peace and harmony among the people.

“I urge local leaders to echo this message and further propagate peace and harmony among their people,” read the statement.

Boinett reiterated the government's resolve to rid the region of cattle rustling and banditry.

“There will be no mercy for rustlers, bandits and other elements who are bent on making the area insecure, thereby negatively affecting livelihoods,” he added.
