Boinnet, Kavuludi clash over police promotions list

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and National Police Service Commission (NPSC) Chairman Johnstone have clashed over police promotions, with each releasing a separate list of officers.

The list signed by Police Spokesman George Kinoti and sanctioned by the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet omits eight names which were contained in the list from the National Police Service Commission.

While the Commission list by chairman Johnson Kavuludi contained names of officers promoted to the rank of Acting Assistant Inspector General, the one from police headquarters omitted them with an official there saying they were not approved.

Kenya Police Spokesman Charles Owino is among officers promoted to acting Inspector General in Kavuludi’s list but was not contained in the police headquarters list.

Kinoti has since downplayed the confusion saying Boinnet will soon issue another list of police promotions.
