Boko Haram Kills Over 30 Village Vigilantes

The victims were accused of being anti Boko Haram vigilantes.

The attacks happened overnight into Friday, as the United Nations Security Council placed sanctions on the Militia.

Correspondents say villagers in Nigeria have formed vigilante groups to try to protect their communities from militant attacks.

Residents from two of the villages that came under attack said the militants who arrives in a convoy, gathered the men of the community together and accused them of being members of vigilante groups before killing them.

A resident of Kimbi village said the villages notified the security forces about the attack but were told the area was not under military control. The military is yet to comment on the allegations.

The Boko Haram militia has been campaigning for an Islamic state in Nigeria since 2009.

Five weeks ago they kidnapped over 200 girls from a boarding school in Chibok, sparking anger at how the Nigerian government has failed to prevent attacks by the Boko Haram Militia.

Nigerian has now joined forces with the international community to help find the missing girls.
