Bomet MCA charged with slapping, kicking woman

A Bomet Member of County Assembly was on Thursday charged with physically assaulting and causing bodily harm to a 34-year-old woman in Bomet.

Chebunyo Ward Representative Joseah Chepkwony was accused that on July 13, 2019 at Chebunyo market in Chepalungu sub-county, he assaulted Joyce Sigei by slapping her on the left cheek, kicked her thigh and pushed her into a trench causing her bodily harm.

Appearing before Bomet Principal Magistrate Pamela Achieng, the area MCA denied the charges.

He was released on a cash bail of Ksh.10,000.

The case is set to be mentioned on August 28 while the hearing was set for September 29, 2019.
