Bomet University Title Deed Legal, Says CS Matiangi

Bomet University Title Deed Legal, Says CS Matiangi

Matiangi said the president issued a valid title deed for the construction of the public university, adding that the law was followed in the allocation of the title deed.

In a statement, Matiangi said that the land was previously earmarked for the construction of a stadium and an Agricultural Society of Kenya office but local leaders preferred a university instead.

Meanwhile, elders from Bomet County have called for the cancellation of the title deed issued by the president, saying the land was on lease.

LAND IS ON LEASE

The elders, led by William Kettienya, said the president was duped by government officials who failed to consult the National Land Commission (NLC) on the issue.

The Bomet governor last week faulted the president for what he termed as issuance of an illegal title deed for the construction of a public university, saying the process was fraudulent.

President Kenyatta reportedly issued the title deed during the fundraising in support of AGC Church at Bomet Stadium on May 10.

NLS Chair Mohammad Swazuri has since distanced himself from the title deed issue saying the commission had nothing to do with its issuance.
