Bondo sub county plans to reintroduce a campaign dubbed Operation Back to School in a bid to curb high dropout rates in the region due to teenage pregnancies.

According to Mr. Samson Akach, Assistant County Commissioner from Nyang’oma division, the campaign will also deal with early marriages, defilement, among other issues.

He regretted the extent of violation of children rights violation especially in the Lake Victoria region.

The county boss said the campaign would start with school-based barazas to push for children to resume their studies.

He was speaking during the flagging-off ceremony for students from Bondo selected for the Equity Bank Wings to Fly scholarship programme.

Mr. Akach urged teachers to be ready to account for all their pupils to help ensure effective implementation of the government policy on 100percent transition to secondary schools.

Equity Bank Bondo branch manager Javan Odera congratulated the eight students from Bondo and Rarieda sub-counties for outstanding performance.
