Boost for Wamalwa as gubernatorial contenders drop out of race in his favour

Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has received boast in his quest to vie for Trans Nzioa County gubernatorial seat in the August polls.

Neighbouring Bungoma County Governor, Ken Lusaka, advised Wamalwa to abandon ambitions for Nairobi governorship in favour of Trans Nzoia saying he (Wamalwa) has better chances of capturing the seat on a Jubilee ticket.

“As they say, Charity begins at home, we have from the beginning wanted Honourable Wamalwa to vie for the seat in region,” said Governor Lusaka.

Former Cabinet Minister Noah Wekesa and gubernatorial aspirant Joel Gesuka announced to pull out of the race in support Wamalwa who they said is the peoples’ choice to take over from the incumbent Patrick Khaemba.

Lusaka said Wamalwa’s presence in the western Kenya politics would help strengthen Jubilee party in the region.

The Bungoma County governor Lusaka disclosed that they (in Jubilee party) are aiming to capture a majority of the seats in the region.

“If Wamalwa comes to his side as the residents are demanding, and I on Bungoma County we will be able to win seats from the governors to MCA levels,” added Lusaka.

Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama echoed Lusaka’s sentiments saying Luhya political leaders are eagerly waiting for Wamalwa to official unveil his bid for the seat, to throw their support behind him.

Saboti Member of Parliament David Wafula, however, warned a section of Jubilee politicians in the region against monopolizing party affairs saying such acts only jeopardies party unity.

“There are some elected Members of County Assembly (MCAs) here in Trans Nzoia who are saying Jubilee (party) belongs to them and telling others leaders to look for their parties,” Said MP Lazaro.
