Boy, 16, commits suicide in unclear circumstances

A 16-year-old Standard Seven boy on Tuesday committed suicide at Matandara Village in Kirinyaga County in unclear circumstances, Mwea OCPD Kizito Mutoro has confirmed.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mutoro said the Mathangauta Primary School pupil was found hanging from a tree on Tuesday morning dressed in full uniform before the residents alerted police.

He added that police would carry put investigations into the incident since the deceased did not leave a suicide note.

“Unfortunately the deceased did not leave a suicidal note and nobody is willing to talk to us about the issue,” said Mutoro.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Gathigiri Ward MCA Joseph Mungai claimed the minor committed suicide following a domestic row between his parents.

He urged the parents not involve children in their domestic wrangles to avert such cases.
