Boy, 19, arrested for growing bhang

A 19-year-old boy was on Monday arrested after police discovered a cannabis (bhang) farm in his home at Kiandai Village in Kirinyaga County.

The incident, which left residents of the village in Ndia Constituency and his family members shocked, took place after members of the public tipped the police about the presence of bhang in Cyru Wanjohi’s farm.

Confirming the arrest, Ndia OCPD Gasper makau said Cyrus Wanjohi is being held at Baricho Police Station as security officers conduct further investigations.

The arrest comes hot in the heels of the arrest of over 40 suspects last month and recovery of 53 sachets of heroin and bhang in some parts of Changamwe, Mombasa County after security agencies conducted a crackdown on drugs, in the area.

Speaking to the media, Changamwe OCPD Joseph Muthee said the operation will continue and urged locals to assist police with information to help deal with the menace.
