Boy, 7, kidnapped in Loresho found in Kawangware

A 7-year-old boy who had been kidnapped in Loresho, Nairobi has been rescued.

A statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said detectives rescued him from a rental house in Kawangware on Thursday night.

“Two suspects arrested and in lawful custody. The kidnappers have been demanding for a Ksh. 3million ransom to release the boy. Child Safe,” the DCI said on Twitter.

The boy’s identity has not been revealed for the sake of his safety.

Reports indicate that the two suspects are Leah Muhonja, 47, and her daughter Charlotte Msimbi, 23.

The child is said to have been found hidden in Charlotte’s rented room.

Charlotte’s mother Leah was reportedly working as a house help at the boy’s Loresho home.

“Report made to the police had alleged that an unknown female to the House Help had been given permission by the boy’s mother (who is abroad) to take the boy alongside another child for dinner and that the father would later pick him up,” the DCI said.

Investigations are ongoing.
