Residents of Nareto Oltulugum village in Kajiado County have asked non-governmental organizations in the area to give young boys in the area equal opportunity to education just like girls.

Led by County Assembly Speaker Johnstone Ole Osoi, the leaders commended the initiatives already in place advocating for the girl child, but regretted that over the years, this has seen young Maasai boys neglected.

Ole Osoi expressed concern over the alarming number of illiterate boys in the area, stressing that there was need for gender fairness in terms of provision of education.

The leaders were speaking at Oltulugum where they had attended a PhD graduation ceremony of the area women education advocate, Lanoi Parmuat.
