Boy Kills Brother in Isiolo
By Musalia Wycliffe
The two boys were grazing their cattle when the eldest accidently fired the gun that shot his brother by mistake.
According to Assistant Police Commissioner Joseph Sawe, the suspect went into hiding after realizing that his brother was dead for fear of being attacked.
He directed the parents of the deceased to surrender the gun to the police.
The county commissioner, Mr Wanyama Musiambo has ordered the parents of the two to be arrested.
The boy has not been found and the gun was not recovered.
ILLEGAL FIREARMS
The incident happened even as many residents of Isiolo are still in possession of illegal fire arms.
In September 2014, the Ugandan Government called on the Kenyan Government to seize illegal fire arms from the pastoralist communities.
Speaking in a commemoration of Lokiriama Peace Accord attended by delegates from Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya at Lokiriama, at the Kenya-Uganda border, the Ugandan Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development, Peter Lokeris said the Kenyan Government has not seized the firearms.
"The people are willing to surrender illegal firearms in their possession but the government has not taken the initiative to seize them," said Mr Lokeris
