Brace for a united NASA, Mudavadi tells Jubilee

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has advised the Jubilee Party to brace for a tough contest from a united opposition.

Mudavadi reiterated that opposition leaders in the National Super Alliance Coalition (NASA) are committed to fielding a single candidate to face President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August polls.

He condemned the Friday, February 17 incident where armed rowdy youths disrupted Raila Odinga’s rally in Katilia, Turkana County.

The ANC leader said that the country is not ready for violent campaigns and elections.

He urged the youth to shun leaders who try to incite them to cause chaos in the country.

In Siaya County, Alego/Usonga aspiring MP Rosemary Ogutu has implored NASA leaders to stick together up to the ballot, saying it is the only way they can dislodge Jubilee from power.

Miss Ogutu further suggested that NASA should field single candidates in Jubilee strongholds, in order to have chances of winning.

Ogutu, who is also the Ford Kenya coordinator in Siaya County, was flanked by other officials; Andrew Onyango and Aggrey Ondiege, who warned that this time they will not sit and wait for people to use their party as a ladder for climbing to leadership.

Aggrey Ondiege, who is also eying Central Alego ward seat on the Ford Kenya ticket, lamented that many times people have only been running to secure their party’s ticket only after they have been beaten in other parties and that will not be allowed this time round.

He stated that they would support the person who will be elected the NASA presidential candidate but warned that for those willing to contest other elective posts on a Ford Kenya ticket must be ready to come in early enough and toe the line to protect that party’s identity.
