Briton facing cocaine trafficking charges released on bond

The High Court has dismissed an application to have two accused persons charged with trafficking Narcotic drugs worth over 500 million shillings detained pending determination of the case.

The court said, prosecution failed to prove that the two, Jack Alexander Wolf and Roy Mwanthi, will abscond court proceedings.

Wolf will secure his freedom after paying 70 million shillings bond and two sureties of a similar amount.

His co-accused, Roy Mwanthi, will be set free upon paying a bond of 60 million shillings.

DPP Keriako Tobiko had filed an appeal to have the two held in police custody until their drug trafficking case is determined.

Briton national Jack Alexander Wolf  was arrested early this month in connection with the seizure of a cocaine haul at the Mombasa Port.

The drugs were allegedly concealed as sugar from Brazil enroute to Kampala.

Wolf is said to be the grandson of a colonial Cabinet Minister.
