The Cabinet Secretary is expected to read the statement at around 3PM

The National Treasury presented a 1.8 trillion shilling budget estimate in the National Assembly with the largest allocations going to security and payment of teachers.

The Treasury has also indicated plans to increase state revenue by 22 percent and raise spending in agriculture, roads, and energy supply to expand the economy.

The government will be seeking to raise 1.2 trillion shillings in taxes.

Today’s budget statement will also highlight what taxes will go up to fund Kenya’s biggest budget.

In the budget, counties will receive an allocation of 221 billion shillings in the next fiscal year.

As the country’s 47 county governments set out their priorities for the coming fiscal year, the National Treasury estimates that 60 billion shillings that was allocated to counties are yet to be spent one year on.
