Building Collapses in Kiambaa after Heavy Downpour

According to an eye witness, the collapse was preceded by a bang.

No casualties have so far been reported.

Kiambu County Chief Officer in charge of Housing and Planning David Gatimu said that an order was issued in January 29, 2015 to have the construction of the building stopped but the developer defied the order.

He noted that nine construction workers were at one point arrested in a bid to stop the construction.

Gatimu has warned that they will seek and arrest the owner of the building for the damage and force him to compensate the tenants.
