Bungoma Governor accused of misappropriation of county funds

Kanduyi Member of Parliament Wafula Wamunyinyi has accused Bungoma County governor Kenneth Lusaka of misappropriation of county funds.

Speaking at Namachanja Secondary School, Wamunyinyi blamed the governor for diverting cash meant for development into opening and running of party offices in the county.

His accusations come one month after Kenneth Lusaka took over the reins from Eugene Wamalwa as New Ford Kenya party leader following Wamalwa’s nomination to cabinet.

Playing favourites

The MP also accused Lusaka of favoring people from his home area when allocating top positions in the county government.

Wamunyinyi attributed the unequal distribution of positions to the fact that the governor, his deputy, and women’s representative come from the upper Bungoma region.

He further stated that there is very little to show in terms of development despite the fact that the central government allocated the county Ksh20 billion.

The MP was speaking at Namachanja Secondary School‘s Annual General Meeting where 30 students were rewarded for passing last year’s KCSE exams and getting university admissions.

These accusations come a few days after Bungoma Members of the County assembly threatened to move a motion to impeach the governor on grounds of poor governance.

Led by Kimilili Ward Representative Mr David Barasa alias Webuye Juakali, the MCAs accused Lusaka of underdevelopment and favoritism in the allocation of tenders.
