Bungoma MCA roughed up for joining Jubilee

Residents in Bungoma County on Wednesday attacked nominated MCA Martin Wanyonyi outside Governor Ken Lusaka’s office for decamping to ODM.

Mr Wanyonyi, who defected to Jubilee on October 20,2016, said he had been called for a meeting with the minister in charge of Roads, Mr Stephen Nendele, when he was attacked and roughed up by goons who are believed to have camped outside the office waiting for him.

“It is my democratic right to join any political party,” he said, vowing to remain steadfast.

The attack came at the time when the county was hosting the International Investment Conference.

The event that will see policy makers from across the globe come together for a week will be held in Bungoma County.

Minority Leader Ali Machani however questioned the planning of the conference, saying leaders were not consulted during the planning for the conference.
