Bungoma residents protest abduction of an MCA

Police in Bungoma are looking for Mbakalu Ward Member of County Assembly in Tongaren Constituency, Bungoma County after he was allegedly abducted by unknown people Tuesday evening.

According to his family, Mwambu is said to have been trailed by unknown gun-wielding criminals who ordered his driver out of the car and drove off with him.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Mwambu’s family says that the incident occurred at midnight at his Mbakalu Ward when the MCA was heading home.

The gang is reported to have abandoned the car at Kibisi area before fleeing with him.

Police have launched a manhunt for the criminals.

Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has appealed to members of the public to remain calm as the county security intelligence team investigates the matter.

Bungoma County Assembly members skipped assembly sessions saying that their security is at risk ahead of the 2017 General Election.

Residents have called on police to increase patrols in the area to curb insecurity incidents and criminal activities that have since become rampant in the area.
