Bungomas James Bond who shot to fame after hanging on a helicopter dies in hospital

Sale Wanjala, a Kenyan man who shot to fame after dangling from a Helicopter in 2016 has died in Bungoma, reports say.

His family told Citizen Digital that the 36-year-old has been ill for some time and had been admitted to the Bungoma County Refferal Hospital.

Up until his death, Wanjala had been living in abject poverty which had taken a toll on his health according to his close friends.

The feisty man was aptly named “James Bond”-a befitting moniker for a man who had made headlines after risking his well-being in 2016.

Wanjala hit the headlines after hanging on a helicopter that was transporting the body of the late businessman Jacob Juma from Bungoma.

The businessman was gunned down by unknown assailants in May 2016 while he was driving home from a city restaurant.

Hundreds of mourners thronged the businessman’s requiem mass, with Wanjala stealing the show after hanging on the departing helicopter.

He refused to let go even after the pilot flew low, giving him a quick opportunity to jump to safety.

He later claimed that he wanted to see the body of the late businessman at close range.
