Burnt matatu owner sues CORD for damages

A matatu Sacco, Prime Transcity, together with the owner of the matatu that was burnt during the anti-IEBC demonstrations in Kayole, Agnes Wacera Macharia have moved to court seeking to have CORD leaders ordered to pay for the damages.

The petitioners further want CORD leaders to be restrained from violating their constitutional rights by organizing and participating in demonstrations.

The petitioners argue that the anti-IEBC protests by CORD have injured their right to property by causing the burning down of the matatu and by further restraining the conduct of their trade through the constant barricade of roads.

The case will be heard on the 13th of June.
