Bus Falls off Cliff, Killing 20 People

A bus fell off a cliff in central China's Henan province, killing 20 people and injuring 13 on board, state media reported on Tuesday.

The crash occurred at around 11 pm on Monday on a part of highway linking Xinxiang city and Linzhou city, CCTV reported.

The bus, which had 33 people onboard, was heading towards Linzhou from Xinxiang, CCTV said, citing local rescue officials.

All the injured people, two of whom are in a critical condition, have been sent to hospital for treatment, it added.

The bus was carrying members of a privately-owned opera troupe from Xinxiang, according to state-run Xinhua news agency.

The vehicle, designed to carry 35 people, was rented by the troupe, it said.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, Xinhua added.
