Busia paralyzed children in Nairobi Hospital

At last 29 paralyzed children from Akichelesit village in Teso North, Busia County were ferried  to Nairobi Hospital for specialized treatment.

The Kocholia Secondary School bus carried 28 children and their parents or guardians together with two doctors .

According to the County Executive Committee member in charge of Health and Sanitation, Dr Maurice Simiyu, the fact that the children were taken to Nairobi did not mean they were unable to treat them but  they were ferried for specialized treatment.

The parents and guardians of the affected children also thanked the county and national governments  for their quick intervention saying they now felt relieved.

On Wednesday, the Cabinet Secretary for Health Dr. James Macharia appeared before the Health Committee of the National Assembly where he gave an assurance that the situation was being handled.

The Director of Medical Services Nicholas Muraguri also said that the nurse who administered  the injection on the children would also face the law.

The children are reported to have suffered paralysis  after they were allegedly injected by a nurse at Akichelesit dispensary.
