Businessman Accused of Defilement

Nakuru OCPD has been directed by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to carry out investigation into the matter.

The directive came after the office of the DPP received a complaint from a human rights organization accusing officers from teachers’ police post of covering up for the businessman.

The business man has been accused of defiling a minor after putting a drug in her drink.

Nakuru Human Rights Network’s (nahurinet) Director, David Kuria had written to the DPP on 3rd January 2014.

Kuria accused a bar owner identified as David Muiruri of defiling the minor and later conspiring with police officers to frame the charge to malicious damage of property against her.

When the suspect discovered that the victim was planning to report him, he allegedly rushed to the teachers’ police post and recorded a statement with an intention to cover up the truth.

The minor was arrested by the police over malicious damage but released after three days with no charges levelled against her.

Fresh investigations are to be conducted according to a letter from the DPP to Nakuru OCPD and copied to the OCS central police station and the human rights investigation.

The OCPD has been urged to hasten the process of investigation, seal loopholes in the police reports and forward the file to him for further directions.
