Businessman, County government fight over house ownership

There was commotion at Elgon View Estate in Eldoret when a group of men who were reportedly hired by the Uasin Gishu county government stormed the compound of a house belonging to businessman Hosea Ruto.

Ruto, who claims ownership of the house, had earlier blocked the gate leading to the compound with one of his vehicles after spotting the men outside his compound.

The businessman lamented that the county government was keen on claiming his house despite having all documents that show the property belonged to him.

“All I am asking is that can the county interrogate my documents and if they are not worth it will walk away like a good citizen,” said Mr Ruto.

“But I should not be brutalized by my own county.”

Mr Ruto has been at the centre of a ownership row with the county government that claims the house belongs to it.
