Businessman ‘impersonating’ Interpol cop in court

A Kibra court on Monday, October 17 convicted a businessman for allegedly masquerading as an Interpol police officer to extort money from unsuspecting city tycoon through issuing threats.

Chief Magistrate Anne Ong’ijo noted that Abdulrahim Mohamed Shallo produced an expired International Police Association card which was never verified to affirm if he ever served as an officer as he alleged.

Abdulrahim Mohamed Shallo, who had been charged alongside businessman Hiten Kumar Raja, faced ten counts among them conspiracy to kill, a count the two were acquitted for as the prosecution failed to prove the allegations. The two businessmen are from the Oshwal community.

Shallo is said to have demanded, through threats, a Ksh 5 million token before charging Ashok for private investigation services he had offered.

Abdulrahim has been put in police custody until Friday, October 21, when he will be sentenced in regards to the two offenses he was found guilty of. He has been out on bond.

It had been alleged that four years ago, the two had planned to kill business partner then, Ashok Shah, in a property deal raw with a petrol bomb which was thrown on his car, an incident he survived though claiming life of his driver.
