Businessman says ready to face Governor Rasanga again

Siaya gubernatorial hopeful, William Oduol, has laughed off claims that he is planning to back another candidate, saying that he is the only person capable of clinching the much coveted Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket against the incumbent, Governor Cornel Rasanga, in the nominations set for April.

Reports had indicated that the popular businessman was planning to shelf his plans and back either the Rarieda lawmaker, Nicholas Gumbo, or former Regional Development PS, Carey Orege, reports he terms as false and calculated to discredit his bid for the county’s top job.

Oduol, who was speaking during a campaign rally in Gem Constituency, said that he is the only candidate with experience to defeat Governor Rasanga, considering he battled it out with him twice during the 2013 General Election and the subsequent by-elections, coming as runners-up on both occasions.

“I am telling my competitors not to spread false rumors and propaganda. If anything, Gumbo and Orege are the ones supposed to be backing me up,” said Oduol.

He also accused Gem Member of Parliament, Jakoyo Midiwo, for sabotaging his candidature.

The much anticipated ODM Party primaries in the county are slated for April 5, 2017.
