Businesswoman Kabura’s lawyer in court to block arrest

A lawyer representing businesswoman Josephine Kabura has moved to court to block his arrest and prosecution by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly forging an affidavit to implicate former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru in the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

Samson Amberi moved to High Court on Monday seeking orders to stop EACC from arresting him arguing that initial action by the anti-graft body to have him record a statement on how he discharged his mandate is illegal and abusive to administrative authority.

Amberi’s move may have been sparked by emerging reports which indicate that Kabura may have disowned the affidavit implicating senior government officials in the Ksh 791 million loss at the NYS.

Kabura was adversely mentioned in the corruption allegations that rocked NYS last year with EACC conducting investigations into her role in the saga.
