Cabinet approves Sh3.2b payment to youth, women contractors

The Cabinet has approved the release of Sh3.2 billion for pending payments in women and youth tenders.

The special Cabinet meeting that was chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta approved the immediate release of the funds by the National Treasury for all ministries to make payments of debts owed to suppliers under the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities programme.

The Cabinet has also directed all ministries to ensure all the payments are settled by next week and approved the Land Amendment Bill 2016 for tabling in the National Assembly.

The Bill seeks to create a register for all public land in the country, set up a tribunal to hear and settle land compensation disputes and also create a clear basis for land valuation in the country.
