Cabinet Secretaries, Governors Among Those Named in EACC Report

During his 'State of the Nation' address at Parliament Buildings Thursday, the president said all those mentioned in the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) report as having links with graft should resign pending investigations.

Some of the Cabinet Secretaries mentioned in the report include Eng. Michael Kamau (Transport and Roads), Charity Ngilu (Land, Housing and Urban Development), David Chirchir (Energy and Petroleum) and Felix Koskei (Agriculture).

The report also implicates several governors including Isaac Ruto (Bomet), Evans Kidero (Nairobi), Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Cyrian Awiti (Homabay), Peter Munya (Meru) and Hassan Joho (Mombasa County).

Senators James Orengo (Siaya) and  Johnstone Muthama (Machakos) are the only members of the upper house in the list while MPs Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache  South), Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache  North), Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), John Serut (Mt Elgon) and Sanjeev Birdi (Nominated, URP) have also featured prominently.

All members of the Parliamentary Accounts Committee have also been told to step aside over their alleged links to corruption. Principal Secretaries Mutea Iringo (Defence), Francis Kimemia (Secretary to the Cabinet) and Geothermal Development Corporation MD Silas Simiyu have also been asked to step aside after being named in the EACC graft report which was tabled in Parliament.
