Cabinet Wants All Public Servants Vetted

This is according to the Cabinet which agreed today that this will be done after the Government develops a Code of Conduct under the Kenya Integrity Programme (KIP).

 

The decision was reached today during the third Cabinet meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House this year.

 

Besides the vetting plan, the Cabinet also approved the Budget Policy Statement for the year 2014-2015.

 

In the Budget Statement, the Cabinet agreed to create a conducive environment for economic growth.

 

This includes construction of 18,000 units for officers employed by the National Police Service Commission.

 

The programme will be undertaken partly through Private-Public-Partnership framework.

 

The initiative will be expanded in the medium term to cover the Kenya Defence Forces and the Prisons Department.

 

Also approved, was the establishment of Free Trade Zone in Mombasa, setting the stage for the Ministry of Industrialization to roll-out the country’s first Free Trade Zone.

 

The Free Trade Zone, which is the first of its kind in East Africa, will allow trading of goods duty free within the Zone.

 

Issues covered in the meeting include the state economy, food security and optimal use of public funds.

 

Besides Budget Policy Statement, other issued agreed upon were the Division of Revenue 2014, and the County Allocation of Revenue Bill 2014.
