Calm returns to Mau Narok following weekend clashes

An uneasy calm has returned to Olposimoru area of Narok County following the killing of two people over the weekend, which ignited clashes between the Maasai and Kalenjin communities living in the area.

More than 2,000 people have been rendered homeless in Olenguruone after their homes were torched in what was termed as retaliatory attacks by warring communities in the area.

Sunday, the National Government imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew to help restore normalcy in the area.

Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaiserry who visited the area also put on notice security forces in the area saying that any of them found on the wrong would be “fired immediately”.

The Interior CS also added that police are investigating claims of incitement by local leaders and assured residents that justice would be served without fear or favour.

“Any leader found to have incited the communities into violence will not be spared,” said the tough-speaking CS.
